After successfully collaborating in the telecommunications and content businesses, Sony is now joining the Ericsson Racing Team to tackle the Volvo Ocean Race 2005 and 2006 challenge.
Carl-Henric Svanberg, Ericsson President and CEO, says "We are delighted to have Sony on board for the Volvo Ocean Race."

"After four years of a successful Sony Ericsson joint venture, there are strong ties between our companies.  We are pleased to be able to extend out partnership in this way," he added.

"Sony has a solid history of excellent collaboration with Ericsson," said Howard Stringer, Sony Corporation Chairman and CEO.  "Both companies understand the importance of mobilizing content to meet changing consumer behavior, and Sony's participation in this race is an extension of that already very strong partnership."

Through Ericsson technology, people will be able to track the race around the clock, experience what the crew is going through and participate through the use of mobile and internet technology.
