Ericsson BusinessPhone offers enhanced collaboration, presence and multimedia capabilities

Ericsson has introduced a new range of BusinessPhone solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that enable them to take advantage of greater group collaboration, presence and multimedia communications - along with many other enhancements in mobility, IP-based convergence and applications integration.
The new release of Ericsson's BusinessPhone IP-enabled business communication system includes new features designed to improve communication efficiency and productivity. These include presence services, unified messaging, group collaboration and multimedia communications.

Advanced capabilities now available to SME users in the new release of BusinessPhone include presence integration with office PIM systems like Microsoft Outlook. This means, for instance, that calls can be automatically routed based on the user's current Outlook calendar status. The presence information can also be used to automatically link callers to predefined voice announcements when the user is not available. Users can set or modify profile settings with a simple SMS from their mobile phone when on the move.

Torbjörn Lundmark, Director of Sales Converged Solutions at Ericsson Enterprise, says: "Our philosophy is to offer our SME customers a smooth and realistic migration to new IP-based communications and enterprise mobility - always making use of existing investments wherever possible."

"The latest release of BusinessPhone builds on the system's converged architecture to deliver real business benefits in terms of improved group collaboration, mobile working, presence and multimedia communications."

New functionality in BusinessPhone 8.0 includes: fax integration for unified messaging services, delivering fax to and from every desktop.

Enhancements to the BackStage communication application, with improved support for collaboration, presence and multimedia communications.

A new feature, 'All Computer Telephony' provides full Computer-Telephony Integration (CTI) on every BusinessPhone system, without additional cost. This enables users to make a call with a simple mouse click using TAPI applications. Other new features include Corporate Network Route Optimization; new BusinessPhone IP telephony packages; and new services on the Integrated Application Server (IAS) that hosts all BusinessPhone applications.

BusinessPhone 8.0 provides SMEs with IP-enabled multi-converged infrastructure that is now available in a prepackaged and easy-to-deploy solution. New Digital Residential Gateways (DRGs) enable SMEs to deploy cost-efficient branch/remote office solutions.
