Warid Telecom International LLC, Bangladesh Operation (Warid Telecom) has awarded Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) a prime integrator contract to plan, design and integrate an in-building solution spanning 43 cities across Bangladesh. The day-to-day operations will be added to the scope of the existing managed services partnership.

The in-building solution (IBS) improves wireless coverage inside buildings, resulting in stronger signals at indoor locations. Visitors and employees in the buildings may, for instance, use their mobile phones and laptops to access data previously not accessible via wireless devices.

The IBS being deployed for Warid Telecom will enable mobile phone users to enjoy advanced communications with seamless and high-quality coverage, as well as international roaming services. The system design will target key areas covering airports, shopping centers, hotels, hospitals, banks, government institutions and commercial centers. The system will also support smooth migration to 3G.

Muneer Farooqui, Chief Executive Officer, Warid Telecom Bangladesh, says: "Ericsson has proven to be a reliable and committed partner in Bangladesh. Our focus is to ensure that we offer our customers a high-quality network and wide range of differentiating services that will add value to their lives, as well as redefine customer service in the country.

"Warid Telecom's network will have high quality, capacity and coverage, which is unique in Bangladesh for any operator at launch. We are confident that with Ericsson as our strategic partner - with their cutting-edge technology, as well as their local competence - Warid will be able to meet its commitment of bringing superior mobile communication to the people of Bangladesh."

Arun Bansal, Country Manager, Ericsson Bangladesh, says this contract further strengthens Ericsson's leadership in in-building communication solutions. "This is a significant milestone for Ericsson Bangladesh. We are honored to have the confidence of Warid Telecom to develop and integrate this best-in-class in-building communication solution.

"We are confident of being able to fulfill Warid Telecom's specific requirements for the Bangladeshi market. Ericsson's global experience and competitive state-of-the-art solutions are key to ensuring the success of this project, backed by a strong local presence and expertise," he says. "We look forward to being the partner of choice for Warid Telecom in the future."

Under this contract, Ericsson will install in-building solutions in more than 100 buildings across 43 cities in Bangladesh.

Ericsson is shaping the future of Mobile and Broadband Internet communications through its continuous technology leadership. Providing innovative solutions in more than 140 countries, Ericsson is helping to create the most powerful communication companies in the world.
