Ericsson enables Far EasTone to drive global Enterprise IoT connectivity
- Ericsson and Far EasTone enhance IoT Partnership enabled by Ericsson’s global IoT Connectivity Management
- Far EasTone enterprise customers to get full benefit of NB-IoT technology to access the global IoT market, while international enterprises can enter the Taiwanese IoT market
- Global NB-IoT connectivity to be fully operational in Q2 2018
Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) has been chosen by Far EasTone (FET) to enable it to offer Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity services globally to enterprises. Ericsson’s global IoT Connectivity Management, based on Device Connection Platform, and part of Ericsson’s IoT Accelerator platform, will enable FET’s customers to deploy, manage and scale IoT connected devices and applications.
FET forecasts three million NB-IoT connected devices in Taiwan by the end of 2019. Access to Ericsson’s global cloud service will open up domestic and international IoT business opportunities for FET’s Enterprise IoT customers. As the first operator providing NB-IoT commercial service in Taiwan, FET began rolling out the NB-IoT network in November 2017.
There are already more than 60 partners in the ecosystem with full operational service expected in Q2, 2018. The 4G network transformation technology can be extended to 5G in the future.
Under the platform-as-a-service deal, Ericsson is also providing a go-to-market program to help FET enable its enterprise sales, and launch and scale IoT solutions with speed through Ericsson’s connectivity ecosystem.
Philip Tseng, Executive Vice President of Enterprise & Carrier Business Unit, Far EasTone, says: “Being the first service provider to market with NB-IoT services in Taiwan demonstrates our commitment to unlocking Taiwan’s great domestic and international potential in IoT enterprise.
“The quick launch, easy maintenance and management, and cost-effective benefits that come with Ericsson’s global IoT connectivity management offering, combined with the speed and agility of an NB-IoT network, will make our enterprise IoT customers competitive on a global scale.”
Chris Houghton, Head of Market Area North East Asia, Ericsson, says: “Millions of devices will soon be connected in Taiwan via NB-IoT, opening up a new way of doing business for enterprises of all sizes, within the market and even beyond, as a result of access to the IoT ecosystem. As a long-standing and trusted technology leadership partner, we look forward to helping Far EasTone make enterprise IoT a reality for their customers.”
Ericsson Device Connection Platform is part of Ericsson IoT Accelerator, a cloud-based IoT platform that handles connectivity management, subscription management and OSS/BSS, enabling automation of business processes between operators and enterprises. Enterprises will be able to access FET’s network efficiently and seamlessly.
