Ericsson Expander provides rural coverage in Ethiopia

Ericsson and Ethiopian Telecommunications Corporation (ETC) signed a USD 48.5 million contract to provide GSM Expander solution to increase operator's coverage and capacity of the existing network in Addis Ababa and other regions of the country.
Under the agreement, Ericsson will deliver increased efficiency and network capacity meeting the market needs of cost-efficient coverage in new areas, the Ericsson Expander solutions are key components of the agreement.


"We are very proud to further develop our relationship with ETC by supporting the expansion of its network," said Moncef Mettiji, Country Manager, Ericsson Ethiopia. "This expansion will allow ETC to offer new and enhanced services to its customers at the same time they will be able to cover new areas," he added.
                       
Ericsson will provide comprehensive and tailor-made telecommunication services to enhance the communication quality of ETC's existing network. The massive expansion project will be completed by mid 2005.

This deal will strengthen the long lasting relationship between Ericsson and ETC. The operator will increase the capacity and coverage in Addis Ababa and the regions with the help of Ericsson's equipment and know how.
