Ericsson in China awarded its first ENGINE commercial contract

Ericsson has been awarded a contract by Beijing Communication Corporation to build a new gateway for Beijing Communication's local fixed network. Ericsson will deliver its ENGINE gateway solution in the first commercial ENGINE contract ever awarded to Ericsson in China.
Under the contract, Ericsson will provide a total solution to Beijing Communication covering hardware, software and professional services. The solution will offer four nodes, supporting a total of about 600,000 trunks.

This contract is a very important step for this mission," said Zhao JiDong, Vice President of China Netcom Group and General Manager of Beijing Communication Corporation. "We believe that Ericsson's reliable systems and professional services will assist us to reach our aim."


Deliveries will begin in mid-October and the deployment is expected to be complete before the middle of 2004. Nanjing Ericsson Panda Communication Company Ltd., Ericsson's largest joint venture in China, will provide the equipment and Ericsson (China) Technology Service Co. Ltd. will provide professional services.
