Ericsson introduces new ENGINE broadband service portfolio for enterprises The successful ENGINE concept is now extended with a comprehensive portfolio of broadband services for small and medium enterprises (SME), offering services like Voice over DSL and IP Virtual Private Networks. This integrated end-to-end SME solution with one common management system is based on ENGINE Access Ramp, Ericsson's multi-service access node for copper networks, and offers fast new revenue streams through ready-made, advanced business access solutions. Ericsson is one of the first companies in the world with an up-and- running Voice over SHDSL network. With the Voice over DSL service, operators will be able to simultaneously offer high quality voice and fast Internet access on an existing copper line without significant investments and with a very short time to market. "Growth and development in the DSL access market is driven by the need for speed, and multi-service broadband access is quickly becoming crucial to small and medium-sized companies," said Ove Anebygd, Vice President, Ericsson Multi-Service Networks. "Our SME solution enables operators to provide these businesses with higher speeds with symmetric bandwidths as well as multiple telephone and data channels on a single copper line." The SME access portfolio offers flexible solutions over any type of access network; copper, fiber ethernet, and radio access, and is an integral part of Ericsson's ENGINE, the solution providing leading-edge migration paths from circuit to packet networks. The SME portfolio allows operators to offer a multifold of value-added services to business users such as: - Fast always-on Internet with 'speed in both directions' via SHDSL - Virtual Private Networks over IP or ATM - Voice over DSL including Voice Centrex (business voice) services - Voice over IP - Video Services including video conferencing, transmission of high quality graphics and films - Managed Bandwidth - rate adaptively from both subscriber and operator ends. - Wireless LAN Ericsson is the leading communications supplier, combining innovation in mobility and Internet in creating the new era of mobile Internet.
