Ericsson launches two new powerful digital cordless phones Ericsson today announced their plan to launch an all-new range of completely unique digital cordless phones. The Ericsson Cordless Phone 230 and the Ericsson Cordless Phone 260 feature a new design concept and easy-to-use menu system. Developed and designed for the home environment these new phones contain the most accessible, state-of-the-art technology. They are sure to blend discreetly into any interior and their base stations can be placed either upon a desk or mounted on a wall. The handsets feature slender curves and they can be obtained in four colours: Stone-rock grey, Deep-ocean blue, Rain-forest green and Bright-sun yellow. Ericsson Cordless Phones 230 and 260 are supplied with one handset but are capable of supporting up to eight additional sets. Extra DT 200 handsets are available as accessories. When using more than one handset, your cordless phone becomes a complete home switch, which is making it possible to give each member of the family an individual handset. You can also transfer calls, make internal calls (free of charge), engage in multi-party calls and much more. To manage your calling costs, it is also possible to assign a budget to each handset. Cordless Phone 260 features a built-in speaker, so the caller can keep the hands free while calling and talking. It also has a digital answering machine with 15 minutes recording time and a memo-function, which lets a user leave a message to his or her home companion. Other extra features include a Baby- watch monitoring function and a two-way intercom. "The total market for cordless phones is growing, both at homes and in the SoHo environment. Cordless phones are replacing corded phones and sales of digital cordless phones is growing even faster," said Jan Ahrenbring, Director Marketing and Communications at Ericsson Mobile Communications. Cordless Phones 230 and 260 offer the user intelligent and useful features designed to make life easier in and around the home. Both phones contain a large backlit display and a circular menu system that is easily navigated. Both phones offer remarkable talk times of up to 15 hours and can be left in standby mode for approximately 150 hours. The handsets measure a mere 141x53x25mm and weigh just 139g. All recent advancements in digital electronics have been utilised and they are DECT/GAP compliant, which means they can be used with other non-Ericsson DECT products. The Ericsson Cordless Phones 230 and 260 will be available in selected markets in April 1999.
