Ericsson locates a corporate office in Hong Kong
Ericsson locates a corporate office in Hong Kong Ericsson will open a corporate office in Hong Kong in the beginning of 1999. The office will be headed by Kurt Hellström, Executive Vice President responsible for Market Area Asia Pacific. Parts of the corporate office will be located in the office in Singapore, that is the regional treasury functions, project financing and R&D. This is a consequence of Ericsson's new organization, which was announced in September. The aim is to ensure a strengthened customer focus and efficiency in Ericsson. The corporate office will have a limited staff and cover functions such as Human Resources, Communications and Controllers. Four Corporate Officers will support the business operations in the area. Ericsson already has about 200 employees in Hong Kong supporting the operations in China and providing resources for training. Ericsson's operations in Singapore include support for D-AMPS and the regional office for Consumer Products. th Ericsson has been present in Asia since the late 19 century. Today, Ericsson has close to 11,000 employees in Asia Pacific. Manufacturing is taking place in Australia, China, India, Malaysia, New Zealand and Thailand.
