Ericsson Mobile Device Management provides comprehensive and easy-to-use device management tools for the deployment, support, upgrade and protection of mobile devices and applications. It will be offered as an integral part of Ericsson's Mobile Enterprise solutions for operators as well as in solutions for larger enterprises.

"As enterprises mobilize a growing range of applications, we see an increasing requirement to maintain proper control over the security, administration and operating costs of mobile devices," said Mats Dahlin, head of business unit Enterprise. "As mobile devices become more powerful, with greater memory and processing power, it becomes more important than ever to be able to secure the access they provide to corporate information - particularly when devices are lost, stolen or subject to unauthorized use."

"With integrated Mobile Device Management, operators and enterprises have a set of tools for centralized management of smartphones and other devices, facilitating enterprise policy implementation across the organization," continued Dahlin. "They can reduce the cost of support as well increase availability, service levels and security."

Ericsson Mobile Device Management includes management components for: deployment and over-the-air upgrades, security and push-based policy enforcement (including policies for antivirus and encryption software), patch management and software distribution, trouble-shooting and disaster recovery, and inventory control. The solution supports centralized management of devices including Symbian smartphones and Pocket PC PDAs.
