Ericsson named key supplier in major GSM expansion to STC, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ericsson has been named by the Saudi Telecommunications Company as the key supplier for STC's fifth GSM expansion in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The award is valued for Ericsson at up to USD 826 million. The project is due to be completed around year-end 2002. The agreement means that Ericsson will provide the total core network Kingdom wide, as well as the major portion of STC's radio network, covering the central and Eastern provinces as well as the Jeddah area. Ericsson will provide STC with full supply, technology and services support for the project. The expansion will make STC the largest and among the most advanced GSM networks in the Middle East.
