Ericsson only supplier approved for both telephony and multimedia softswitch solutions in China
In 2002, Ericsson's softswitch solution passed all rigid tests implemented by experts of MII´s Research Institute of Telecommunications Transmission. Following network access tests, Ericsson is the only supplier awarded official licenses to provide a softswitch solution for both telephony and multimedia services in China.

In March 2002, Ericsson signed a contract with China Telecom Group in Beijing, under which Ericsson provided equipment for the operator's Next Generation Network trial and deployed the softswitch solution in Guangzhou and Shenzhen branches of the group.
