Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) is mapping the future of converged broadband by unveiling its full service broadband strategy, based on user convenience and operators' need for minimized risk and fast time-to-market.

The full-service broadband strategy positions Ericsson as partner of choice for operators to provide users with the maximum convenience - any service to any device, anywhere.

Through an offering that includes world-leading solutions such as HSPA and VDSL2, together with IMS, Ericsson is poised to lead the way in full service broadband.

Bert Nordberg, Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Ericsson, says: "Once users experience the value of broadband at home, at work and on the move, there is no turning back; they will expect the same services regardless of where they are or which device they're using.

"This will mean true convergence from the user point of view - any service, any screen, anywhere. Convenience will lead to a full service broadband mass market."

For users, this means a rich and interactive media experience. It also means new innovative services and easy access to the same content and services from any device.

For operators and service providers, this will result in revenue growth and reduced churn as users use broadband connections both at home and on the move.

Full service broadband will enable an optimized network and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) for the operators, while minimizing risk and time-to-market. It also means attracting new sources of revenue from industries such as media and advertising.

During Broadband World Forum 2006, Paris, Ericsson will demonstrate its different solutions for the operators to achieve full service broadband through technologies such as HSPA, the latest in EDA solutions (VDSL2+), IMS, GPON, and others.

Ericsson is shaping the future of Mobile and Broadband Internet communications through its continuous technology leadership. Providing innovative solutions in more than 140 countries, Ericsson is helping to create the most powerful communication companies in the world.
