Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) will support prime contractor Motorola Solutions for "Lot 2" in the delivery of the Emergency Services Network (ESN) for the Home Office in the UK. The ESN program will use a commercial LTE network to deliver voice and real time broadband data services that meet the demands of public safety organizations across the UK.

Ericsson, a leader in mobile broadband technology, and Motorola Solutions, a leader in public safety communications, have a global partnership to deliver long term evolution (LTE) technology to public safety. The companies are implementing together three of the largest public safety LTE networks in the world, located in Los Angeles County, California in the U.S. and two Middle Eastern countries.

Partnering with Motorola Solutions, Ericsson will implement a multi-access core that delivers guaranteed priority access for the UK's public safety agencies. Additionally, Ericsson will support Motorola Solutions in providing a comprehensive range of operational and business support systems and services.

Valter D'Avino, Head of Ericsson's Region Western and Central Europe, says: "The ESN project is an ambitious and strategically important one. Every day, governments and cities around the world rely on the technology and services expertise created by the partnership between Ericsson and Motorola Solutions to enable mission-critical operations. Together, we are uniquely positioned to enable the functionality and capabilities that a broadband-based network can offer to the UK's public safety services."

Ericsson's solutions created in partnership with Motorola Solutions increase the voice, data and visual information available to emergency response decision makers - whether they are travelling to the scene of an incident using 4G mobile communications, or communicating critical information to partner agencies using fixed communications networks.
