Ericsson's ENGINE selected by Skanova Skanova, a network provider company within the Telia Group, has today signed a contract with Ericsson for extension of their transit network. The extension will be carried out by Ericsson's ENGINE multi-service network. One of the purposes of the extension is to take care of the forecasted traffic growth primarily due to local pre-selection as directed by the Swedish National Post and Telecom Agency (PTS). Ericsson will deliver telephony servers and media gateways nation wide. "Telia is already using this technology throughout Europe and now we take the first step in order to modernizing the fixed network in Sweden," said Ove Alm, Technical Director at Skanova. "The implementation of ENGINE also means that we will be able to integrate traditional fixed telephony with IP-based traffic in the same network." Ericsson is shaping the future of Mobile and Broadband Internet communications through its continuous technology leadership. Providing innovative solutions in more than 140 countries, Ericsson is helping to create the most powerful communication companies in the world.
