Ericsson's high-performance broadband named best access technology for 2006
Ericsson's (NASDAQ:ERIC) High-Performance EDA (VDSL2) solution has been awarded as 2006's best access technology by the International Engineering Consortium (IEC) at Broadband World Forum 2006.
The IEC InfoVision award confirms the leadership of Ericsson's EDA - with more than 100 networks, the most widely deployed IP-DSLAM solution in the world.
Earlier this year Ericsson launched a completely new out-site plant concept for its High-Performance EDA solution: fiber-deep broadband access over copper, based on the new VDSL2 standard.
This solution represents a tenfold performance improvement over previous generations of the highly innovative EDA product family.
Ericsson's industry-leading EDA solution supports high-bandwidth applications, with advanced quality-assurance mechanisms for demanding video applications.
The most scalable IP-DSLAM solution on the market, Ericsson's High-Performance EDA allows operators to develop their businesses beyond basic IP connectivity, ensuring the ability to offer any services to home and work environments in a way that is cost-efficient and future-proof.
Martin Mellor, vice president, Broadband Networks, Ericsson, says: "We are very proud to receive this prestigious award, yet more proof of Ericsson's technology leadership.
"Growing competition in the market drives the need for all operators to differentiate their offerings. Our high-performance broadband solutions provide them with the ability to expand their customer bases by offering their users the best value in broadband services."
Ericsson's high-performance broadband solutions have been designed to help fixed-line operators increase broadband market share through unique multi-service capabilities. These enable competitive rollout of high-speed and high-quality broadband services in both urban and rural areas.
With hundreds of submissions, the InfoVision prize is awarded on a yearly basis by the IEC during the Broadband World Forum Europe. Ericsson's High-Performance EDA solution was named best product of 2006 in the access-network technologies and services category.
Ericsson is shaping the future of Mobile and Broadband Internet communications through its continuous technology leadership. Providing innovative solutions in more than 140 countries, Ericsson is helping to create the most powerful communication companies in the world.
