Ericsson has reached a milestone with its microwave radio product MINI-LINK. Half a million radios have been installed in mobile, fixed and corporate networks globally. The latest delivery to Hutchison is a part of the strategic and important 3G rollout in Italy.
"We are proud to be chosen by Hutchison to build the transmission for Italy's first 3G network. It underlines our role as the market leader in transmission for mobile networks. Building a solid 3G network requires solutions that are flexible, cost-effective and enables a rapid rollout," says Sivert Bergman, Vice President & General Manager Transport and Transmission.

Ericsson, the world leader in wireless communications, is by far the industry's largest supplier of short haul microwave radio systems. MINI-LINK cost-efficiently connects base stations, switch nodes, and offices, forming either single radio connections or complete microwave networks.

The MINI-LINK product family has been developed since the mid 1970's, accelerating when GSM was launched and during the telecommunication deregulation. Instant capacity needs in any geographical site is the main driver for microwave transmission both in 2G and 3G rollouts. The latest additions for the MINI-LINK portfolio are high capacity radios handling 155 Mbit/s and cost-efficient traffic nodes.

MINI-LINK products are based on open standards, making them fully compatible with networks from all suppliers.

Ericsson is shaping the future of Mobile and Broadband Internet communications through its continuous technology leadership. Providing innovative solutions in more than 140 countries, Ericsson is helping to create the most powerful communication companies in the world.
