Ericsson's PipeRider@- first cable modem to be Euro DOCSIS compliant Ericsson unveils its new PipeRider cable modem, Europe's first Euro DOCSIS compliant cable modem, at the European Cable Communications Show in London , Oct. 18-20, in London. Ericsson has taken a leading role in establishing an organization that will further develop standards for the Euro DOCSIS specification. DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Systems Interface Specifications) is a standard interface for cable modems that allows cable providers to offer high speed Internet access to their customers, over the cable networks. "With the cable television market rapidly expanding across Europe, Ericsson is meeting and exceeding the high speed Internet access needs of consumers," said Björn Krylander, Vice President and General Manager, Home Communications. "The PipeRider is an example of Ericsson leading the way in the industry, as well as responding to consumer needs."
