Ericsson selected by 3 as network supplier in Scandinavia

3G operator 3 has awarded Ericsson an extension to their frame agreement to deliver core, radio, transmission equipment and related services in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and optionally Finland. The estimated value of the agreement, running to December 2007, is up to BSEK 2.55.
3 has successfully and proactively launched 3G in Sweden and Denmark, and on August 19, the company announced having around 200,000 customers. Ericsson has been 3's strategic partner from the very beginning and has delivered their complete core and radio networks in the two countries. This partnership has now been prolonged.

"We are proud to continue the co-operation with Ericsson, strengthening their leadership position in the exciting 3G world. We believe it is our duty as good corporate citizens of Sweden to contribute to its prosperity, and this agreement will even further enhance the possibilities of 3's customers in Sweden and in Scandinavia as a whole", said Shlomo Liran, CEO at 3.

"We are very enthusiastic about our future co-operation with 3 in Scandinavia. This agreement shows how Ericsson drives the future of telecommunications, collaborating with customers and sharing cross-border experiences. We look forward to creating new end-user possibilities on mobile broadband and other application areas together with 3", said Steinar Tveit, President of Market Unit Nordic and Baltics at Ericsson.
