Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC), in cooperation with Sony Ericsson and ST-Ericsson, showcased a complete, end-to-end TD-LTE solution at the LTE TDD/FDD International Summit organized by China Mobile in Barcelona, Spain, during the 2011 Mobile World Congress.
In a joint activity, the three companies provided the first demonstration of voice services in a TD-LTE network.

The China Mobile Summit, with an aim to create a larger eco-system for TD-LTE, has received industry-wide support. Dozens of world leading operators, infrastructure and chipset/terminal vendors put up live demonstrations of their TD-LTE solutions, reflecting their readiness of large-scale deployment.

Joining forces with Sony Ericsson and ST-Ericsson, Ericsson also showcased multimedia applications such as video streaming and web browsing, demonstrating TD-LTE's ability to deliver data-rich services at high-speed for the more technology-savvy consumers of tomorrow. The demonstrations were performed using a Sony Ericsson device embedded with ST-Ericsson's M700 TD-LTE modem and a voice over LTE client.

Mats H Olsson, President of Ericsson China & North East Asia, said: "As the undisputed market leader in the LTE domain, we are proud of being able to leverage Ericsson's strength with its two joint ventures, successfully demonstrating complete end-to-end TD-LTE capabilities including voice services. Ericsson is deeply committed to driving the globalization and commercialization of TD-LTE. And I'm particularly pleased that we are doing it this time with Sony Ericsson and ST-Ericsson, members of the Ericsson family."

Jan Uddenfeldt, Chief Technology Officer  of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, said, "As mobile networks continue to evolve, Sony Ericsson will  focus on supporting the latest standards and technologies that deliver a faster and more powerful experience to operators around the world."

ST-Ericsson is strongly committed to help our customers bring TD-LTE to the market; and our pioneering TD-LTE efforts demonstrated here using our M700 platform puts us at the forefront of developing commercial solutions," said Jörgen Lantto, executive vice president, chief technology officer and strategy of ST-Ericsson. "Through the close cooperation with Ericsson and SonyEricsson, this demonstration achieves a significant milestone in bringing the benefits of TD-LTE and voice over LTE to consumers around the world."

Ericsson expects TD-LTE to be commercially available for consumers in latter half of 2011.
