Ericsson shows advanced broadband solutions for VoIP, TV and multimedia services

During Broadband World Forum, Venice, September 20-23, Ericsson will focus on different sides of converged communications and the evolution of new consumer driven broadband services such as VoIP, TV and multimedia. In the Plenary panel Torbjörn Nilsson, Senior Vice President of Ericsson will address trends for broadband content and applications.
In the broadband area, Ericsson is driving the shift from best effort to powerful Quality-of-Service enabled access. This will make it possible for operators to control costs and compete with higher bandwidths and new enriched services. At Broadband World Forum, stand 2029, Ericsson will demonstrate four advanced broadband solutions.


The Ericsson Ethernet DSL Access address the market for IP/Ethernet optimized DSL access solutions designed for delivery of a full suite of triple play services, voice, video and data, utilizing ADSL2plus. The solution is based on the cost efficient Public Ethernet architecture. The demonstrations highlight how the high capacity offered by ADSL2plus can be used to deliver high quality TV services.


The Ericsson Engine Multimedia solution addresses the growing voice over IP (VoIP) mass market. Ericsson Engine Multimedia is an IMS-based solution for converged voice and multimedia communication services like VoIP, video telephony and hosted enterprise services, i.e. IP centrex that enables operators to offer advanced and optimized voice and multimedia services to small and medium sized enterprises.


The Multi-Service Edge Device HM950 is an integrated solution for voice and data access, firewall and Quality-of-Service capabilities for deployment at customer premises. The Ericsson IP Service Engine addresses the market for dynamic provisioning of multiple IP-services across an access network. The solution features advanced policy management, end-to-end provisioning and is an open solution that is integrated with BRAS (Broadband Remote Access Server) products from leading vendors.


The Ericsson Access Base Station 2200 address the market for small and medium business DSL access bundled with Wi-Fi Hot Spots. This solution features ADSL2plus transmission, Wi-Fi based on IEEE 802.11g standard, advanced security features and is integrated with Ericsson's Mobile Operator WLAN solution for seamless data access across hotspots and 3G networks.
