Ericsson signs USD 59 million agreement in Bosnia

Ericsson has signed a contract with PTT Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ericsson will supply both fixed and mobile communications equipment and services valued at USD 59 million (SEK 470 million) over a period of three and a half years. The order includes a fixed part of 200,000 new switching and subscriber lines to the different parts of the country including cantons like Bihac, Tuzla and Sarajevo. The mobile part of the contract totals 30,000 GSM mobile lines. AXE is the basis for both the fixed and mobile networks. "The need for telecom is enormous in this country and we feel honoured to be a main contributor in the reconstruction and development of the telecom network in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the coming years," says Håkan Tezcanli, Business Development Manager, Global Marketing Europe at Business Unit Public Networks in Stockholm. "Ericsson showed an early interest in Bosnia and Herzegovina and during the post-war period Ericsson has built up its presence in Bosnia and Herzegovina continously.Today we are a major supplier to PTT via our local company Ericsson d.o.o in Sarajevo," says Håkan Tezcanli. The agreement is partly financed through a buyers credit offered by Ericsson Project Finance. Ericsson´s 100,000 employees are active in more than 130 countries.
