Ericsson to acquire NodePrime to accelerate software defined infrastructure
- An investment in NodePrime that secures 15 top talents for acceleration of development of software platform for datacenter hardware automation and analytics
- Already integrated in Ericsson Hyperscale Datacenter System 8000, the platform enables data driven automated decision driving complex, massive-scale configuration
- Strategic to Ericsson's cloud offering accelerating its leadership within the next generation software defined infrastructure
Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) today announces its intention to further invest in NodePrime to acquire 100 percent of its operations and talents based in San Francisco. NodePrime's platform is the only infrastructure management platform available, designed to support the command and control of the complete ecosystem of components in today's existing datacenters.
Integrated into the Ericsson Hyperscale Datacenter System 8000, this software platform enables discovery, analysis and automated configuration of existing and new datacenter hardware platforms. This allows datacenters to become hyperscale and adopt distributed infrastructure. By acquiring Nodeprime's competence, Ericsson will reduce sourcing risk and secure control of roadmap direction and acceleration.
NodePrime's platform enables any datacenter to migrate to hyperscale infrastructure by starting from where they are. Serving as the brain of the software-defined infrastructure, the platform represents a huge power shift for service providers to make data-driven decisions about how they purchase, scale and create their ideal infrastructures.
James Malachowski, co-founder and CEO of NodePrime said: "Our vision from the start was to transform the infrastructure into a single entity where it's entirely possible to grasp the management of hyperscale data center infrastructure through the collection of trillions of associated metrics inside one view.
"Now being part of Ericsson, we further strengthen and expand Ericsson's position as an industry leader in next-generation software-defined datacenters. Together we are creating a massive power shift for enterprises to make decisions on their own terms and scale with precision at the speed at which businesses need to respond today."
Anders Lindblad, Vice President, Head of Business Unit Cloud & IP said: "We at Ericsson continue to accelerate the creation of the software defined datacenter market, to benefit our customers. NodePrime has unique talent and was a clear choice to bring inside Ericsson. We believe in innovation coming from the Silicon Valley area and will continue to increase our presence and distribution of such innovation"
The investment will be paid in cash. NodePrime will be integrated into Business Unit Cloud & IP.
