Ericsson to carry out global Live Millennium Exercise On September 8-9, Ericsson will carry out a global Live Millennium Exercise. The aim of the exercise is to train and trim Ericsson's readiness and procedures before the millennium shift. In the exercise, a number of different scenarios will be presented to the Ericsson support functions. By working with these scenarios, the support function will test contingency plans, organization and how to work under particular and difficult conditions. If weaknesses in Ericsson's readiness are detected during the exercise, those systems and procedures will be fine-tuned in preparation for the millennium. The training session will go on for 24 hours and includes all 140 countries where Ericsson is present. The exercise starts when the first part of the world enters 1999-09-09 and ends when the entire world has entered 1999-09-09. "The exercise shows that Ericsson is taking the millennium issue very seriously. We are running an extensive program throughout the organization and monitor the progress from top executive level. Ericsson's readiness for the millennium is high and we are confident that we will be able to keep business running without any major disturbances", says Roland Sjöö, Millennium Program Manager. The Live Exercise is completely built on scenarios and simulations, and does not in any way affect Ericsson systems in operation.
