Ericsson to supply microwave and optical broadband network to Antel in Uruguay

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) and Antel, the leading telecom operator in Uruguay, have signed two contracts for the supply of Ericsson's microwave transmission, MINI-LINK, and optical networking solutions, providing a platform for flexible, scalable and cost-effective transport network for fixed and mobile services.


Through these solutions, Antel will be able to offer Uruguayan consumers a wide range of services and to meet the demand for network capacity, driven by the increasing number of subscribers and the uptake of new data services in Uruguay.

The agreements include MINI-LINK TN, Marconi OMS 1600 and Marconi OMS 1200 that allows optimization on both network and sites, resulting in a more cost efficient transport network. The agreement includes also a complete set of services including installation, integration and hardware support.


The contract highlights the benefits of the Marconi acquisition to Ericsson's customers, who value having a strategic partner and a provider of broadband solutions.
