Ericsson to supply Movistar's new GSM network in Uruguay

Movistar Uruguay, the mobile operator of the Telefónica Móviles group in Uruguay, has selected Ericsson as sole supplier for its GSM and transmission network. The operator will be able to offer more advanced features and innovative services to its customers.
Under the agreement, Ericsson will provide a complete new GSM network, including EDGE-ready GSM/GPRS 850MHz radio access and core networks and related services.

Ericsson will also enhance Movistar's access transmission network with MINI-LINK microwave transmission. It includes high-capacity radios and smart traffic nodes, together with implementation and professional services.
