Ericsson WebSwitch wins Best of Show Award Ericsson's WebSwitch 2000 has been awarded the Best of Show Award in the recent CTI Expo Spring 1999 in Washington D.C. The CTI Expo is one of the major events in the Internet Telephony and Computer Telephony industries. The WebSwitch is an IP-based PBX-solution for smaller enterprises. The product has been developed by Ericsson WebCom Inc. (formerly TouchWave); a Silicon Valley based company, recently acquired by Ericsson. "The award shows that we now have a strong position in IP-based PBX solutions for the small to midsize enterprise markets as well as larger corporations with networked branch offices," said Haijo Pietersma, Executive Vice- President Ericsson, Head of Business Segment Enterprise Solutions. The WebSwitch 2000 is complementary to Ericsson's portfolio of voice, mobile and data solutions for the enterprises. The WebSwitch supports conventional analog handsets as well as IP Phones. The number of users per site is between 10 to 50. Larger numbers of users can be supported by networking WebSwitches together across an IP network (local or wide area network). As an IPBX the WebSwitch provides a wide range of new features and benefits including the ability of centralized system configuration, unified messaging and remote IP based extensions for telecommuting.
