Ericsson is to provide TelstraClear with Asymmetric DSL (ADSL) lines across metropolitan New Zealand centers delivering Ethernet-based, high-speed Internet and data services.

"We have chosen Ericsson as our partner because Ericsson's Ethernet DSL Access solution provides an opportunity to reach new customers. It also provides a low-risk way of meeting customers' demand for always-on bandwidth," says TelstraClear Senior Product Manager Neil Stirling.

The ADSL lines will be delivered using Ericsson's new ultra-compact, scalable Ethernet DSL Access solution, a cornerstone of Ericsson's Public Ethernet offering. The solution enables standard ADSL lines to be offered economically at smaller sites and uses Ethernet technology to provide high-bandwidth links in the backhaul network.

"We are happy to obtain TelstraClear's confirmation that our Public Ethernet vision is the right one. Fast deployment of an Ethernet based network is very important to TelstraClear. It is our privilege to help our customer achieve their goals in fast-growing DSL market and offer their customers high-speed Internet based services," says On-Fai Lam, General Manager (TelstraClear Account) for Ericsson New Zealand.

Ericsson has previously supplied TelstraClear's integrated Gigabit Ethernet based Metropolitan Area Networks.
