Ericsson wins GSM/GPRS expansion contract with Mobtel in Serbia

Under the contract, Ericsson will provide hardware and software expansions of the core network, radio network and microwave transmission network, as well as expansion of the GPRS packet switching technology equipment and enhanced mobile multimedia functionality for new service offerings, e.g. streaming.


With a turnkey responsibility, Ericsson will provide a comprehensive portfolio of telecom services. Ericsson's expertise in network design, deployment and integration as well as software upgrades will support the transition to advanced multimedia services. Under the contract, Ericsson will also provide support and maintenance services.


"The ratification of this agreement has an outstanding importance, not only for our company Mobtel, but also for the Republic of Serbia and further development of telecommunications in our country," said Mr Goran Bozic, Mobtel Deputy General Director. "It represents another step and logical sequel of a long lasting and successful cooperation between Ericsson and Mobtel, which will enable our company to continue the expansion of GSM network and to maintain the position of leader in telecommunications of Serbia and Montenegro."
