Far EasTone makes Ericsson its sole 4G/LTE supplier in Taiwan
- Far EasTone in Taiwan makes Ericsson its sole supplier, tasked with expanding and optimizing the telecom operator's 4G network
- The collaboration will support Far EasTone's 4G and 5G network strategy
- Far EasTone's customers will benefit from superior network performance and user experience, and next generation voice calls using VoLTE and Wi-Fi
Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) announced a new contract with Far EasTone, one of the top three Taiwanese telecom operators. The expanded partnership will not only optimize customer experience but also strengthen Far EasTone's leading position in the Taiwanese market.
The cooperation will lay a solid foundation for Far EasTone to further enhance customer satisfaction through delivering on the "best 4G network in Taiwan" strategy, and to address the needs from enterprise customers for industry transformation. End-users will enjoy superior LTE network performance, and will be able to use HD voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Wi-Fi calling.

The contract covers LTE network expansion and optimization projects, including Ericsson Radio Access Network, Evolved Packet Core, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling and professional services. All to build a world-leading LTE network of enhanced mobile broadband experience for Far EasTone customers.
Ericsson is present today in all high traffic LTE markets including the US, Japan, and South Korea, and is ranked first for handling the most global LTE traffic - 40 percent of the world's mobile traffic is carried over Ericsson networks, which is twice as much mobile traffic as the closest competitor. Ericsson is number one in LTE market share within the world's top 100 cities. More than 220 LTE RAN and Evolved Packet Core networks have been delivered worldwide, of which 170 are live commercially.
