Leading players from mobile industry perform live demonstration of the interoperability of multimedia messaging solutions

Report this content
Seamless multimedia messaging services (MMS) across different networks, handsets and servers assist in mass-market adoption
The leading industry players, representing MMS handset, client and server manufacturers globally, will showcase together a Multivendor MMS Interoperability Live Demonstration at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France.

The participating companies are Alcatel, Comverse, Ericsson, Logica CMG, Magic4, Matsushita (Panasonic), Microsoft, Mitsubishi, Motorola, Nokia, Openwave Systems Inc, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Tecnomen and Telenity.  Through their work together and use of open specifications, the participants will be performing a live demonstration of how multimedia messaging works seamlessly in a multivendor environment.

Up to now, more than 100 operators around the world have announced their MMS services, and handset and infrastructure vendors keep adding MMS to more of their product offerings. One of the key enablers for the rapid growth of multimedia messaging is the interoperability between handsets and servers across manufacturers. The interoperability of multiple vendors' MMS implementations will contribute to the acceleration of delivering compatible MMS services to operators' subscribers and a better user experience.

All companies participating in this MMS Interoperability demonstration are members of the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), and adhere to the open MMS specifications created by OMA, which is designed to be a center for mobile service standardization work, stimulating and contributing the creation of interoperable services across countries, operators and mobile terminals to meet the needs of both the consumers and business users.

Note to Editors:
Media and analysts attending the 3GSM World Congress are welcome to visit the Multivendor MMS Interoperability Live Demonstration stand. The demonstration takes place at Stand L23, Hall 4 and is open on February 18 - 21 during the regular 3GSM World Congress exhibition hours. There will be a joint tour for members of media on Wednesday, February 19th, 10:15 - 11:15.
