Building on its commitment to provide high quality services to its customers, MobileCom has signed a USD 39 million contract with Ericsson to upgrade its GSM network. The move will enable the network to support cutting-edge services that MobileCom will be providing to its customers in the near future while providing uninterrupted network coverage to about one million customers.

"From day one MobileCom has chosen Ericsson to supply all the components of the GSM network, which today is considered one of the most advanced in the region," said Mickael Ghossein, CEO of MobileCom. "MobileCom customers have been receiving quality services from the start. We signed this agreement with Ericsson to fulfill our commitment towards our customers by providing them with high quality, advanced services through our world-class network."

"Ericsson supports MobileCom in becoming the market leader and one of the most advanced operators in the region," said Antoine Nehme, Key Account Manager and Country Manager at Ericsson Jordan. "Our efforts go beyond the supply of a resilient network with competitive functionality. We will also focus on helping MobileCom in developing and implementing a winning market strategy through a deeper understanding of end-user needs and timely deployment of valuable services in several customer segments."

Under this agreement Ericsson will be upgrading the core network, the radio base stations as well as the microwave transmission. Ericsson's global service and technical expertise will secure a swift and efficient network upgrade. This will then enable MobileCom customers to benefit from additional advanced services that the operator will be launching soon in the Jordanian market.

MobileCom's Ericsson network was built up in less than eight months and provides coverage to more than 99.5% of Jordan's populated areas. By the end of the upgrade, the network will be able to support new cutting edge services that MobileCom will be providing to suit the communication needs of its customers.
