Skanska plans to acquire Ericsson Real Estate & Services Ericsson and Skanska today signed a Letter of Intent covering the acquisition by Skanska of the operations in Ericsson Real Estate & Services (REM). The acquisition is a step in Ericsson's focus upon core-activities and is a part of the corporation's restructuring programme. REM's turnover is approximately SEK 1.7 billion and the company employs around 600 people, of which roughly the Ericsson part-owned company employs 100, REMSERCO AB. Skanska will assume responsibility for REM's full complement of personnel. REM provides a productive working environment through combining customer services, communication and security systems, along with traditional real estate maintenance services. Ericsson intends to sign a long-term agreement with Skanska for the management of services. The agreement is scheduled to take place during January 2000. The two parties cannot, at this point, give any further information on the financial details of the agreement.
