Southwest China expands communications with Ericsson mobile network

Southwest China expands communications with Ericsson mobile network Ericsson has won a contract valued at close to USD 100 million (SEK 835 million) with Sichuan Mobile Communications Co. for the expansion of their GSM network in the Sichuan province. Within the contract, network capacity will be expanded from some 600,000 users to more than 1.4 million users, with GSM system hardware and software delivered by Ericsson's joint venture Nanjing Ericsson Communications Co. Ltd. In addition, Ericsson will provide a range of service solutions and technical support to further optimize the mobile network. Together with Sichuan Mobile Communications Co., Ericsson will also establish an Operations and Maintenance center in Chengdu to further develop and support the operator's network and services in the province.
