Esselte announces further consolidation of European manufacturing operations In accordance with its Leitz integration programme of cost reduction and efficiency improvements, Esselte has today embarked upon a further stage in the consolidation of its European manufacturing operations. The company has announced the planned closure of its factory in Münchingen, Germany and the transfer of current production to other Esselte facilities in Germany and elsewhere in Europe. The Münchingen facility, with a workforce of 130, currently supplies plastic products and indices and dividers to the European markets. Negotiations are now under way with the local works council. It is anticipated that in many cases, directly affected staff will be offered re-employment elsewhere within Esselte. A social plan will be developed in association with the works council to make appropriate accommodation for those employees who will leave Esselte as a result of the closure. The expected costs in connection with this planned closure have already been provided for as part of the Leitz integration programme. Esselte is the leading provider of office supplies world-wide.
