Fancourt, the Garden Route’s top leisure and lifestyle destination, has announced the appointment of Sharon Scholtz as the new Spa Manager at the luxury Fancourt Spa.

Renowned for its breath-taking views and tranquil setting, the sophisticated spa and wellness offering here is integral to its holistic guest experience. 27-Year old Sharon Scholtz, who was born and raised in George, brings a wealth of experience, as well as an abiding passion for the wellbeing of Fancourt’s guests, to her new position as Spa Manager.

This dynamic young lady, who matriculated from the Outeniqua High School in George in 2002, lives and breathes her calling, and it’s no surprise that she kick-started her career as a spa therapist here at Fancourt too. She first joined the team in 2005. Her potential was recognised early on and she was promoted to Senior Spa Therapist within the space of two years. This portfolio equipped her with the necessary administrative and interpersonal skills to manage a spa, while her natural charisma saw her building valuable long-term relationships with guests. A ‘home girl’ who is also very much a global citizen, she recognized the value of spreading her wings to gain international experience, and headed for Europe in 2009 to practice her therapeutic skills on a consultancy basis. Since returning to South Africa in 2010, she has worked at other prestigious establishments on the Garden Route such as the Pezula Resort & Spa in Knysna and The Views Boutique Hotel & Spa in George.

Says Scholtz: ‘This appointment is a dream come true for me as I started my career here, and was given the opportunity to discover and develop my full potential. My travels have taught me that this is a dynamic industry that grows and changes every year, and keeping abreast of global trends is one of my top priorities. While the breath-taking views and peaceful setting is therapy in itself, the Fancourt Spa is a haven of tranquillity where our guests can escape from the stress of their daily lives to relax and rejuvenate. Along with my team of highly qualified and experienced therapists, I’m positive that I can take our spa and wellness experience to even greater heights.’

According to Scholtz, vibration, sound, music, light and colour therapies are high on the global trend list for 2012, with a strong focus on beauty and spa treatments for feet, as our 21st century lifestyle takes its toll on these vital appendages that carry our weight. There is also a sharp increase in young people (under 18 years of age) indulging in treatments, as spas around the world become more and more family-friendly.

The Fancourt Spa offers an extensive range of beauty treatments and spa therapies, among which the Healing Earth Skin and Body Care treatment range, a 100% organic South African product, Decléor, and anti-ageing specialist range Carita. Scholtz counts their 85-minute African Raindrop signature body treatment as a personal favourite. Focusing on the energy points of the body (back, neck and feet), during this blissful journey the therapist applies seven natural oils using different massage techniques to relieve stress and induce a state of complete relaxation. A combination of Aromatherapy, Colour therapy, Reflexology and energy balancing, it promotes vitality, wellness and relaxation.

With its cool, tranquil décor enhanced by calming music and the subtle fragrance of Frangipani incense, a world of pampering awaits within 10 treatment rooms, among which a couple’s treatment room. All spa guests have complimentary access to a wide range of facilities that include a heated Roman bath and Jacuzzi with relaxation area; sauna and steam rooms with male and female change rooms and showers; and a tepidarium (heated room).

Light and healthy meals are available in between spa sessions, served at Fancourt’s daytime restaurant Morning Glory, which offers a variety of Asian favourites combined with European fare, along with unsurpassed views over the golf course.

Fancourt is also home to two luxury hotels and three restaurants, while its three award-winning Gary Player- originally designed golf courses, (Montagu, Outeniqua and The Links) are firm favourites among top golfers. It is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and is the perfect leisure and lifestyle destination to escape to, for some quality ‘time-out’.
