FESTIVE FAMILY FUN AT FANCOURT
Fancourt announces Festive Season Programme - "travel hot spot" to celebrate Christmas and New Year on South Africa's Garden Route!

In addition to all the fun stuff families can enjoy together on the estate, (not to mention its ideal location for exploring the popular Garden Route), both small children and teens will be in their element with the list of things to choose from - which means that parents can also enjoy some "down time" - be it a round of golf on one of the 3 Championship Courses on the Resort, a game of tennis - or a few hours of peace in the spa, the roman baths or on a lounger at the pool.
The Fancourt Festive Season Programme has just been announced and promises to offer a variety of events, activities, culinary and sensory experiences:
Day visitors, as well as guests staying at either of Fancourt's two luxury hotels (Fancourt Hotel and the ultra exclusive "Manor House at Fancourt") , can look forward to
Festivities kick off on 12 December in style when The Appassionata Ensemble, directed by Elisabeth Potgieter, will perform as part of the Classic Thursdays Concert series of classic music and dance concerts (presented on selected Thursday evenings in the Ballroom until March 2014). The programme ends on 9 January 2014 with a Classical Piano Recital by top local pianists James Redfern and Laura Pauna. Cost: around £6 (R100)
The Buitenverwachting Food & Wine Pairing will be held on Friday 13 December at 19:30 at Henry White’s in the Manor House. Cost: R395 (around £24) per head, to indulge in a classic food & wine pairing experience with a five-course menu prepared by Chef Regan Wilson, complemented by wines provided by Buitenverwachting Wine Estate in Constantia.
Family Fun Run on Monday 16 December to celebrate the Day of Reconciliation and enjoy quality time with your family, while remembering the important message of nation building that this day brings. A choice of 5km or 10km race on the day, starting at the Leisure Centre. Costs around £4.
The Fancourt Kidz Christmas Party takes place on 20 December in aid of the George Child and Family Welfare Association. Just so the adults don't feel left out there is also the Graham Beck Bubbly and Food Pairing on at 19:00 at Henry White’s in the Manor House. Cost: R395 (around £24) per head to indulge in a classic five-course menu prepared by Chef Regan Wilson with a glass (or two) of delicious Graham Beck bubbly to add sparkle to the occasion. Seating is limited.
Mountain Bike Ride on Monday 23 December at 07:30 (meet at the Leisure Centre) to get your adrenalin going along this breathtaking 30km return route that traverses the Outeniqua and Montagu Pass (completed in 1848 by Henry Fancourt-White), revealing magnificent views across the Outeniqua foothills. Follow the gravel road and steep ascents that take you through plantations, indigenous forest and mountain fynbos. Cost: R75 (about £4.50)
Also on 23 December, Fancourt will host its annual Carols by Candlelight concert at the Club House Terrace at 19h30. Fancourt will provide the candles that cast a glow over this enchanting event. It is complimentary to attend.
Christmas Eve Dinner will be hosted on 24 December at 19:00 at Henry White’s Restaurant. The three-course meal is R350 (about £21) per person or five-courses at R425 ( about £25) per person. This will be a traditional Christmas dinner prepared by talented Chef Regan Wilson. La Cantina and Morning Glory will also be open for informal a la carte dining.

The Parlotones Outdoor Concert will be hosted at Fancourt on Friday 27 December (gates open at 16h00) at The old Golf Academy area. Catch South Africa’s top rock band The Parlotones live as part of their South African tour. They will be performing songs off their brand new album Stand Like Giants. Food and drink will be available to purchase. Tickets cost: R200 (adults); R100 (3—12 years) with free entry for kids under 3 and are available through webtickets.co.za.
Christmas High Tea on Saturday 28 December at 14:00 – 17:00 at Morning Glory restaurant. Indulge your sweet tooth with a scrumptious selection of treats that include homemade fruit mince pies, Christmas pudding with brandy butter and meringue roulade with seasonable berries, chocolate and hazelnut mille feuille, rose water flavoured Turkish delight and homemade nougat. A glass of sparkling wine is also included for R185 (about £11).
New Year’s Eve African Masquerade Ball on Tuesday 31 December from 19:00 til late in The Ballroom. Enter into the spirit of the New Year celebrating the mystique of the African Mask. Venetian-style African masks will be provided. Cost is R1,250 (about £75) including a three-course meal and live entertainment. Dress code is formal.
