THE GOLF …

Fancourt is home to three Gary Player-designed courses and an exceptional golf academy that houses the only TaylorMade Fitment Centre in Africa, backed up by the expertise of PGA professionals. The Links was recently voted “30th Best Golf Course in the World” and the “Top Golf Course in Africa” by the prestigious Golf Digest US in their Planet Golf “100 Best Courses Outside The U.S” 2012. Gary Player, who received the PGA Tour's Lifetime Achievement award, last year, describes Fancourt as “home of perhaps my greatest achievement as a golf course designer, The Links”. The Links hosted the European Tour’s Volvo Golf Champions in January 2012. Fancourt’s other two courses, Montagu and Outeniqua are currently ranked 7th and 17th in South Africa.

Steenberg is home to the acclaimed Peter Matkovich designed Steenberg Golf Course, an 18-hole Championship course with greens rumoured to be the best in Cape Town. Steenberg has enjoyed a string of major international accolades over the past few years, including being voted Best Luxury Hotel in Africa in 2011 by www.TripAdvisor.com, and being named as “#1 Hotel in Africa 2011” and “Top Foreign Golf Resort 2012” by Condé Nast Traveler US. Steenberg’s course is distinguished by its unique natural terrain and environmental diversity that optimizes the natural features and hazards of the estate, offering superb views across the vineyards towards the Stone Mountain, with the Atlantic Ocean in the distance.
