TURQUOISE HOLIDAYS (01494 678 400/ enquiries@turquoiseholidays.co.uk / www.turquoiseholidays.co.uk ) is offering an amazing 9 nights for the price of 7 combining two of South Africa’s intimate little gems, Steenberg (near Cape Town) and Garonga (a tented safari camp close to the acclaimed Kruger National Park) from just £2285 per person including 4 nights (for the price of 3) at Steenberg on a bed & breakfast basis, 5 nights (for the price of 4) at Garonga with all meals, drinks (soft drinks, tea, coffee and local brand alcoholic beverages), a complimentary massage at each property, a bottle of bubbly on arrival at Garonga, tapas at Bistro Sixteen82, international flights in economy class from the UK into Cape Town and out of Johannesburg, domestic flights from Cape Town – Hoedspruit – Johannesburg and road transfers from Hoedspruit to Garonga.
Bringing these two properties together makes perfect sense. Both are un-touristy, intimate retreats where guests can truly unwind and escape the “rat race” and enjoy authentic South African scenery and ambience, warm hospitality and superlative, yet unobtrusive service. Combining these two properties is easy when flying into Johannesburg as SA Airlink offers direct flights between Cape Town and Hoedspruit and both properties can arrange airport transfers should you prefer not to hire a car, although a hire car is recommended for exploring the Cape.

BACKGROUND:
STEENBERG is set away from the hustle and bustle of the V&A Waterfront on the Cape’s oldest farm – an idyllic setting surrounded by mountains, vineyards and the rolling greens of the Steenberg golf course, with views stretching down to False Bay. Not only is the hotel steeped in history with three of its hotel buildings (including The Manor House with its Heritage Suites) being declared actual National Monuments, but its authentic Cape-Dutch style ensures guests get a real sense of place rather than being at any luxury international hotel. Steenberg has an award winning restaurant Catharina’s, a brand new bubbly bar “Gorgeous by Graham Beck” which is proving popular with the fashionable set in Cape Town, the “hip n happening” cellar-door Bistro Sixteen82 (a celebration of contemporary design, water and glass perfect for alfresco dining and great for families) , Championship 18-hole golf course and indulgent Ginko Spa. A haven of peace and tranquillity – just 20 minutes from Cape Town airport and the buzz and shops of the Mother City!
GARONGA SAFARI CAMP, located on its own Private Game Reserve near the Kruger, has built a reputation for offering a “safari for the soul” complete with billowing Moorish-style tented suites with four poster beds, outdoor showers and private hammocks. Garonga offers a relaxed, unhurried and holistic approach to a safari. With just 6 tents, it is intimate enough for guests to set their own pace. They may choose to enjoy the wildlife from their private hammock or from the cool depths of the infinity pool – although most guests opt to join the twice daily guided safari game drives and walks in this pristine wilderness which is home to four of the Big 5 (no buffalo). Activities on offer include private picnics in the tree-house or “sleep outs” for the more adventurous on the enticing deck in the reserve. It’s also a very romantic setting - popular with honeymooners - where guests can enjoy a “bush bath” for two under the stars or languid massages in the Bush Sala overlooking the reserve. Garonga is fully inclusive with an honesty bar where guests are invited to make themselves at home and help themselves to drinks, house wines and local beers.
