LAST CHANCE TO CLIMB KILI WITH BORN FREE IN OCTOBER

Report this content

Is conquering Tanzania's iconic Mount Kilimanjaro on your bucket list?   Then here's the perfect opportunity for a massive tick - plus you can raise vital funds for Born Free's conservation projects while you are at it!

Just two places remain!!

Join Born Free Foundation President Will Travers, OBE between 3 – 12 October 2014 for the ultimate adventure! Conquer Tanzania’s famous Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain - which peaks at an incredible 19,340ft at its snowy summit. This momentous climb will be the challenge and experience of a lifetime – but will also raise vital funds for wildlife conservation in this, the 30th anniversary year of the Born Free Foundation.

Will Travers (son of Bill Travers and Virginia Mckenna who starred in the 1966 iconic movie Born Free) is specifically raising funds to help save wild lions whose numbers have dropped by 50% over the last 30 years as well as elephants, who are under increasing pressure due to illegal ivory trade.

Whether you join Will on the climb or not, you can help him meet his ambitious fundraising target of £30,000 by pledging your support here http://www.justgiving.com/MyKiliChallenge

In addition to ticking off this massive “bucket-list” achievement, the intrepid group of travellers can look forward to enjoying some of Tanzania’s wonderful wildlife and spectacular scenery. Accommodation before and after the challenge will be with Serena Hotels (voted “Africa’s Leading Hotel Brand” at the 2013 Travel Awards for Africa), including the first night at the Nairobi Serena and second night at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge where you will visit Born Free’s lion-proof boma project as well as enjoy both a night and day guided game drive in Amboseli National Park – famous for its elephants. Then it’s down to business with a night at Moshi base town before the ascent up Kilimanjaro begins, camping overnight at various base camps along the route. The highlight of this adventure is watching the sun rise from the summit on the last day of the challenge before heading back down and flying to Nairobi for a last night of pampering at the Nairobi Serena – with a celebratory meal and ideally a few hours relaxing at the pool or in the spa massaging those aching muscles! The final day is spent enjoying a picnic lunch with Virginia McKenna and the Born Free team.

Complete a charity challenge of a lifetime and ensure that the Spirit of Elsa continues to burn brightly for generations to come! All you need to do is register (which costs £765) and then raise a minimum of £350 by getting your friends and family to sponsor your climb.  To view a draft itineraries of the two routes including all costs please visit
