London Gala Dinner to help save rhinos in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

The 23rd January 2014 will see a glamourous gala fundraiser hosted by Celebrate Life SA at the Park Lane Sheraton, raising funds for a new rhino sanctuary at Thula Thula Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

Celebrate Life SA, a non-profit organisation, whose focus is on assisting with the protection of the Rhino in Southern Africa, are geared up to host a Gala Dinner in London.  The event is being hosted in order to raise the profile of their campaign, as well as to raise funds to assist in the establishment of a Rhino Sanctuary at #ThulaThula in the Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal Province of South Africa. 

The Gala Dinner, themed “Save the Rhino” will be held on Thursday, 23rd January 2014 at the Park Lane Sheraton Hotel in London.

The entertainment line-up is packed with South African entertainers, including former radio DJ, participant in Television Big Brother, motivational speaker and businesswomen, Mags Westerhof, as the Master of Ceremonies. Other performances include South African born Luyanda Jezile, renowned for performing and directing the choir, with Annie Lennox, for Templeton Prize 2013, which was awarded to Bishop Tutu at a ceremony in the Guild Hall in London. Luyanda was also the producer of Lion King for two consecutive years, the winner of the Achiever Award in Arts and Culture, London, he performed in Safricanto with Hugh Masekela for the Olympics and for the launch of Nelson Mandela’s book launch at the Earls Court Book Fair in London.  Jezile will also be joined by classical singer, Joyce Moholoagae, a Soprano, well known for her performance on stage at the Miss Southern Africa Beauty Pageant.  

Celebrate Life have the support of the local Kwa-Zulu Natal Super Rugby Franchise, The Sharks, and a number of prominent South African Rugby Players will be in attendance at the event. Items under the hammer include a bronze Rhino Sculpture done by Allen Hallett (no.2 of 50), a painting by Anne Anwyl, a sports art painting of Prince Harry with the rhino’s, signed Springbok and England Rugby Jerseys, a signed Chelsea football jersey, 2 return business class air tickets from Delta Airlines, to any destination on their itinerary, a Magnum of South Africa’s best wine and a seven night stay at Thula Thula Game Reserve worth R30,000.

“This event is one of the most exciting that we have been involved in,” says Cherry Armstrong, the founder of Celebrate Life SA, “We have the opportunity to raise substantial funds for a cause that has a direct impact on us as well as future generations.”   Armstrong went on to say, “We are fortunate to have the participation of the likes of Delta Airlines, Africa Albida Tourism and other sponsors and we are determined to make a significant contribution to this cause.”
