Mara Serena Wows More Than Just The Wildebeest in Kenya!

Mara Serena Safari Lodge in Kenya is enjoying the Annual migration in grand style this year … as the lodge has just had an extensive makeover!

One of Kenya’s original Mara-based properties, Mara Serena Safari Lodge is “wow-ing” its guests from the minute they walk into the brand new arrival lobby as it flows to a terrace that boasts sweeping views of the expansive Masai Mara plains.

Interestingly, the lodge is built on the exact spot HRH Prince Charles once chose to pitch his tent in the 1970s for a ringside seat to the ‘greatest wildlife show on earth’, the legendary migration of the wildebeest – so that says a lot about its “Location, Location, Location” status! The lodge is set high on a hill with views over the savannah, down to the winding hippo-filled Mara River. Here guests can enjoy the spectacle of more than one million wildebeest, 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles crossing, usually peaking in Kenya around August and September, as part of their 700 mile journey between the Mara and new grazing lands of the Serengeti in Tanzania.

The renovation has been extensive and extremely successful with a significant improvement in terms of quality, décor, facilities and additional space for guests as well as the use of glass to showcase the jaw dropping views over the Mara.   Magnificent new public areas include a comfortable Bar Lounge, new public washrooms and a gift shop.

Other exciting new additions include a fully equipped Gym (2 treadmills, 1 cross trainer,2 bikes, an adjustable bench, weight Multi station machine and abdominal exercise mats) and a world-class Maisha Spa with an tantalising spa menu aimed at relaxing and revitalizing body and soul after a day out on safari.

Mara Serena Safari Lodge’s refurbishment is in its final stage with only the new restaurant extension still being finished off. All work is being undertaken in off peak hours to ensure minimal disruption, although throughout the refurbishment, guests have been enjoying their meals “under canvas” which has been a very popular alternative!
