Serena Celebrates in Style
Not only did Serena Hotels walked away with no less than 6 World Travel Awards last week including the coveted "Africa's Leading Hotel Brand" - but it also officially unveiled two of its properties in Kenya - the popular Mara Serena Safari Lodge and Sweetwaters Serena Camp, following year-long extensive refurbishments costing in excess of US$2million each.
Mara Serena Safari Lodge in the Masai Mara National Reserve and Sweetwaters Serena Camp in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, both in Kenya, have just been unveiled by Serena Hotels following a year-long extensive refurbishment at a cost of $2.1 million and $2.4 million respectively..
Upgrades at Mara Serena Safari Lodge include an arrival lobby, a reception, gift shop, bar lounge, terrace, and the Maisha Spa & Gym. The dining room has been reconfigured to create a new buffet and active cooking area and by year-end will have additional terraces. There’s a new coffee station and lounge, public area washrooms, indoor fireplace and courtyard.
“The outcome of the renovations has been extremely successful and we have continued to receive very positive feedback from our guests,” said Mahmud Jan Mohamed, MD Serena Hotels. “Our main goal is to strengthen and reposition the lodge as the best available in its category at the Masai Mara Game Reserve,” he said.
A new building has been constructed at Sweetwaters Serena Camp, expanding service operations and public areas which include the reception, dining area, guest lounge, bar lounge, gift shop and kitchen. Last year, the camp saw the addition of 11 tents that now make up the superior Morani Wing.
Both properties have incorporated new furniture, fixtures and equipment.
