Steenberg has announced a restructuring of the company as part of the envisioned brand evolution to take this world-class estate into the future as a key business unit of Graham Beck Enterprises (GBE). Chris du Toit, the CEO of Graham Beck Enterprises says that the structure will drive the strategic direction of the brand where everyone involved shares a common business mission.

A number of key managerial appointments have been made, among which newly created positions, and an exciting new business arm to expand marketing initiatives locally and internationally, will be launched.

John Loubser will head up all Steenberg business units and operations as General Manager. He has been the driving force behind the success of Steenberg Vineyards, first as Winemaker and Cellarmaster, and more recently as General Manager of the GBE Wine Division.

Steenberg’s seasoned Hotel General Manager Gaby Gramm has been earmarked to spearhead the new domestic and international marketing arm of the hotel. Gramm has over the past ten years put together a solid hotel management structure, which will now see experienced Rooms Division Manager Catherine Schulze being promoted to the position of Hotel Manager. With a recently completed MBA, Gramm has a wealth of international marketing experience and an impressive network to draw from internationally and in South Africa, making her the ideal candidate to explore new markets, as well as opportunities for alliances with like-minded properties.

Sales and Marketing Manager for Steenberg Vineyards Anetha Homan will be championing the brand as the newly appointed Brand Manager for Steenberg; while Elizabeth Kraft has been promoted to Human Resources Officer; and Farm Manager Johann de Swardt will continue overseeing the estate as Primary Production and Estate Manager. Laurie White will head up the financial team with his 17 years of experience at Steenberg; and winemaker JD Pretorius will continue his role as Winemaker and Cellarmaster of the winery.

Steenberg is a gourmet destination of note, with fine-dining restaurant Catharina’s celebrating its 15th American Express Platinum Fine Dining Award this year, and cellar door restaurant Bistro Sixteen82 scooping the award for the second time, shortly before celebrating its third birthday. Chef Brad Ball takes on the management role at trendy cellar-door restaurant Bistro Sixteen82. Llewellyn Joorst has been promoted to manage Catharina’s Restaurant where he and Chef Garth Almazan will lead in significant changes over the next few months to bring the restaurant in step with modern international culinary trends.

Over the past few years Steenberg has received a string of major international accolades, among these being named Global Winner Wine Tourism Services in the Great Wine Capitals’ Best of Wine Tourism Awards 2011, and being voted Best Luxury Hotel in Africa in 2011 by www.TripAdvisor.com, the world’s largest travel site. Most recently it was voted onto the coveted Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards’ Top 100 Hotels & Resorts in the World list for a second consecutive year.
