Supersized Selous Sightings with Serena

Guests are being treated to some amazing safari sightings in Tanzania's remote Selous Game Reserve.

It’s all happening in the Selous this month! The local ‘residents’ have put on a great show to welcome guests back to the two Serena camps in Tanzania’s Selous Game Reserve! Both SELOUS SERENA CAMP and SERENA MIVUMO RIVER LODGE have been shut for the months of April and May for their annual rainy season closure – but reopened on 1st June having had a light refurbishment and some TLC including work on the walkways linking the rooms to the main guest areas.

The benefits of visiting The Selous post rainy season is that the bush is truly at its glorious best – lush and green with all the waterholes buzzing and the mighty Rufiji River which runs past the camps at the perfect volume for boating safaris, spot fishing and sundowners.   Not to mention jam-packed with tiger fish for guests who enjoy a bit of a challenge! It is also a great time of the year to visit with lovely cool mornings and evenings ideal for guided game drives, boat cruises and bush walks. Guests have been enjoying great sightings of hippos, elephants, crocs, fish, raptors and water birds at Lake Makubi, Lake Sejese, Lake Tagalala, Lake Nyamiluba and Lake Manze.  June safari highlights have so far included spotted hyena, a pride of 10 lion, leopard, kudu and eland - mostly seen within Stieglers, Beho Beho, Lake Manze and Miombo areas as well as during the Rufiji river boat cruises. Guests have also been enjoying refreshing visits to the Hot Springs.
