South Africa's The Blue Train was named as Africa’s Leading Luxury Train by the World Travel Awards - an award it has enjoyed for four consecutive years now

Following being announced as Runner Up at the exclusive Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards in the category of “Favourite Specialist Train Operator” at The British Museum on the 6th September 2012, The Blue Train continues to make winning a habit!

The Blue Train was named as Africa’s Leading Luxury Train by the World Travel Awards - an award it has enjoyed for four consecutive years now. The Blue Train adds this award to an already array list of accolades collected over the years; such as being voted The World’s Leading Luxury Train for three consecutive years between 2009 and 2011, at the World Travel Awards, as well as Best Passenger Rail Operator at the 2011 Africa Rail Awards.

Hanlie Kotze, The Blue Train’s Executive Manager could not hide her excitement. “We are very thrilled and very proud to yet again be named amongst the crème de la crème of the African continent. The World Travel Awards are hailed as the “Oscars” of the travel industry which aim to reward those travel brands that have excelled and made a great contribution to the industry - in service excellence amongst others. This award is evidence to the hard work everyone has been putting in – especially over the last couple of months. It also serves as a signal that our plans to take this brand to another level are on the right track,” she beams. “This award qualifies us for the Grand Finale, which will take place in New Delhi, India on 12 December 2012, where The Blue Train will compete with the world’s best for the coveted World’s Leading Luxury Train award. Fingers crossed!” Hanlie concludes.

Some of the notable South African winners included the Saxon Boutique Hotel, Villas & Spa (“Africa’s Leading Luxury Hotel”), Ellerman House & Villa (Africa’s Leading Luxury Villa), Fairmont Zimbali (“Africa’s Leading Tourism Development Project”) and Shamwari Game Reserve (“Africa’s Leading Safari Lodge”).
