New interactive website helps you plan your ultimate KwaZulu-Natal holiday in South Africa

One of the best ways of getting your head around planning your own self-drive holiday in KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa is to visit a new website called www.zuluroute.co.za.

Much like the popular “Garden Route” in the Cape, The Zulu Route is an area of South Africa dotted with numerous hotels, B&B’s and lodges that are ideally located for exploring this diverse province and its many attractions. Highlights include the many game reserves, the Drakensberg mountains, the sandy white beaches, world-class dive spots, historical Battlefields and the amazing Zulu culture that runs throughout and gives you the real taste of Africa.

Spending a little time examining the interactive map and reading through some of the information and suggested itineraries will give you the knowledge and confidence to put together your own itinerary to book or discuss with your preferred travel agent or tour operator.

All suggestions offer Affordable Luxury plus an authentic African experience – but allow you to tailor your combinations to suit your interests and tastes. For instance, you might prefer to spend longer on safari (perhaps combining the Big 5 with walking or even horseriding?), whilst others might want to spend longer on the beach - or if you are an active family with a taste for adventure, you might prefer to base yourselves in the Drakensberg Mountains for longer. Suggested itineraries include “The Real Africa”, “Zulu Highlights”, “Family Friendly”, “Romantic Break”, “The Wild Side” and “Zulu Discovery”.

Also indicated on the map are a number of suggested establishments to stay at – the core being Ghost Mountain Inn, Cathedral Peak Hotel, Fordoun Spa Hotel, Isandlwana Lodge, Pakamisa Private Game Reserve, Amakhosi Safari Lodge and Makakatana Bay Lodge including the driving distances between them. More properties are being added as the website develops.
