Etteplan and Posti will expand their cooperation to include software for Smartpost parcel lockers

-Etteplan and Posti, Finland's leading postal and logistics service company will expand their cooperation to the software for the Smartpost parcel lockers in apartment buildings and workplaces.

E-commerce is growing in popularity, which has also seen Finland's leading postal and logistics service company Posti’s parcel volumes grow in the past few years. Hundreds of parcel lockers must function seamlessly. Etteplan is responsible for managing the maintenance of parcel lockers, which encompasses technical support and maintenance of the software. When the maintenance needs are recognized in advance, the possible maintenance work does not delay the delivery of the parcels. Cooperation began when Eatech, which Etteplan later acquired, updated the parcel lockers’ software in 2017.

“From Posti’s point of view, it’s practical that we offer the maintenance of the entire system as a turnkey service,” explains Esa Mäkelä, Managing Director for Etteplan’s software unit. “Posti’s customer service has a direct connection to our service department which provides remote technical support and coordinates device maintenance. We also take care of necessary application updates and development.”

According to Mäkelä, Etteplan’s strength lies in proactive maintenance of parcel lockers. The smart machines can be remotely monitored actively and any possible errors can be fixed before the end user notices them.

Success in maintaining of the existing parcel lockers lead to an expansion in the cooperation

In addition to the existing parcel lockers, Posti has Smartpost parcel lockers in apartment buildings and workplaces. They are designed to make it easier for people to send and receive parcels conveniently on their way to work or home. Posti’s goal in the coming years is to grow its Smartpost parcel locker network significantly. Etteplan is chosen as the partner responsible for developing and maintaining the software also for the Smartpost parcel lockers from year 2019 onwards.

In 2018, Etteplan strengthened its expertise in the area through the acquisition of Eatech Oy and Koodain Solutions Oy.
