Etteplan continues its expansion in China with the opening of a new office

Etteplan’s operations have expanded further in China as the company opens its seventh office in the country. The new office is located in the city of Wuhan, in Hubei Province, central China. Wuhan lies in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River’s intersection with the Han river. The expansion to central China is related to the growing demand for Etteplan’s services among Chinese customers.

Etteplan provides industrial equipment and machinery engineering services, embedded systems and IoT solutions (Internet of Things), and technical documentation solutions. The new office brings the number of Chinese cities that Etteplan operates in to seven: Beijing, Shanghai, Kunshan, Suzhou, Xi’an, Qingdao and Wuhan, their staff totaling more than 350 people. Etteplan has been operating in China since 2004.

Under the Chinese government’s latest five-year plan, one of the key goals for Chinese companies is deeper participation in the global market. Over the last few years, labor costs have increased substantially in China. At the same time, Chinese companies are changing their mode of operations and have started to procure expert services from external sources. This means that the service market has started to open up and demand for outsourcing and service models that buffer the cyclic nature of production has increased.

“China’s service market is clearly opening up, and demand for Etteplan’s services is growing. The development previously seen in Western countries can now be seen in China, meaning Chinese companies are starting to focus more and more on their core business and thus increasingly buying the expert services they need. There is huge potential in the market, providing substantial opportunities for an expert engineering service company like Etteplan,” stresses Juha Näkki, President and CEO of Etteplan Oyj.
