Etteplan future-proofs Roslagsvatten

Etteplan supports Roslagsvatten's development work towards the goal of becoming one of the leading water and sewage companies in Sweden. To future-proof its operations, Roslagsvatten is undergoing a digital transformation and preparing for certification of asset management according to the ISO 55000 series. Within a few years, Roslagsvatten will be the first in Sweden with an intelligent water, sewage and waste system.

Just over a year ago, the municipal water sewage and waste management company Roslagsvatten chose Etteplan as its strategic partner for the modernization of the company's asset management. The cooperation has been strengthened, and Etteplan now manages the programme that supports Roslagsvatten's development journey towards becoming one of Sweden's most modern water, sewage and waste management companies.

“Roslagsvatten is making a unique investment in their future and we are very pleased Etteplan has been commissioned to lead the work of developing, training and digitalizing this part of their business. We have solid experience in several business areas, which contributes to the holistic approach we can offer, and we know that the combination of digitalization and asset management creates the best possible value for Roslagsvatten”, says Mikael Vatn, SVP Technical Communication Solutions, Etteplan.

Etteplan is responsible for programme management, business development, change management and communication, maintenance, process management and asset information management within Roslagsvatten's development programme. The focus is to ensure efficient and value-creating asset management according to the ISO 55000 series.

Christian Wiklund, CEO of Roslagsvatten, says: “We are currently undergoing a digital transformation and introducing a completely new way of working with our asset management, with the vision of becoming one of Sweden's leading water and sewage companies within a few years. It's a change that affects our entire organization, but our close collaboration with Etteplan gives us the prerequisites to succeed in achieving our ambitious goals."

Within the programme, Roslagsvatten is building Sweden's first intelligent water system, where all parts of the intelligent system will be compatible.

Skills training is an important part of the project

The agreement extends over seven years and the idea is that the cooperation will continue until Etteplan's services are no longer needed in the organization.

"This is a forward-looking initiative and even though we currently have many different competencies in the project, the idea is that Roslagsvatten's own organization will evolve in the meantime. We lead the change programme at the same time as we upgrade the employees' skills”, continues Mikael Vatn.

Roslagsvatten in brief

Roslagsvatten enables sustainable societies. We ensure that 130,000 people have clean drinking water every day. We develop and maintain the water drinking infrastructure as well as the sewerage system and sewage plants.

We operate in six municipalities in the greater Stockholm area. In addition, we are overall responsible for the waste management of approximately 30,000 subscribers in two municipalities and operate two recycling centers. Our model means that all municipalities who entrust Roslagsvatten with water, sewage and waste management operations, also become active partners in the company.
